Since the municipal reorganization in 1975, Lendringsen has been in the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Menden (Sauerland) , Märkischer Kreis .

The municipality of Lendringsen , Amt Menden , Kreis Iserlohn existed until 1974 . In the area of this municipality, in addition to Lendringsen, there were also Böingsen , Berkenhofskamp , Hüingsen , Lürbke and Oberrödinghausen .

geography

Lendringsen is located in the southeast of the city on the federal highway 515 . To the southwest of Lendringsen, on the other side of the Hönne , lies the federal road 515 and the Hönnetalbahn Hüingsen . Berkenhofskamp is located northwest towards the center of the city of Menden (Sauerland) . Oesbern is to the north , Lürbke to the east and Böingsen to the south-east .

On July 1, 2017, the "district Lendringsen-Mitte" had 7,399 inhabitants.

history

The village developed in the area of the then municipality Böingsen. Compared to the village of Böingsen , which today has around 120 inhabitants, the locality grew considerably faster. That is why the community was renamed "Lendringsen" in 1936.

The community also consisted of the localities Hüingsen , Berkenhofskamp , Lürbke , and Oberrödinghausen .

The municipality of Lendringsen, the former city of Menden (Sauerland) and other municipalities of the previously existing Menden office were merged on January 1, 1975 to form the new city of Menden (Sauerland).

The coat of arms of the former municipality of Lendringsen contains - like all coats of arms of the Menden office - a so-called cow iron in silver on a red shield. Above this, a blue wall anchor is depicted on a silver-gray shield, which is taken from the coat of arms of the von Rödinghausen family.

The municipality of Lendringsen had had a partnership with the French Aire-sur-la-Lys since 1965 . The partnership has been continued by the city of Menden (Sauerland) since the municipal reorganization in 1975.

Culture

The shooting hall of the Lendringsen 1857 e. V. was demolished in 2012.

Every year at Easter the district festival "Lendring Spring" takes place.

Lendring's music associations include the Kolping Fanfare Corps and a shanty choir.

Economy and Infrastructure

education

After the Albert Schweitzer School was closed in 2012, there are only two primary schools in Lendringsen, namely the Josef School and the Bischof von Kettler School. The school center with the secondary school Lendringsen and the secondary school “Am Habicht” no longer exists since August 2017, as both schools have since been closed. Lendringsen is also the location of a community college.
