The village of Hüingsen is located in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Menden (Sauerland) . Before 1975 it belonged to the municipality of Lendringsen .

geography

Hüingsen is on the west side of the Hönne opposite Lendringsen on a hillside. The place is surrounded by mixed forest, which is used for forestry . Only to the east to the Hönne is a strip of fields and meadows a few hundred meters wide, which, however, has been partially built on since the 1990s with the federal highway 515, which runs on an embankment . The altitude above sea level is 157 (train station) to 212 meters (Buchholz).

On July 1, 2017, the "district of Hüingsen" had 2605 inhabitants.

Before the municipal reorganization on January 1, 1975, Hüingsen belonged to the municipality of Lendringsen in the Menden district . After the merger of the municipality of Lendringsen with the former town of Menden (Sauerland) to form the new town of Menden (Sauerland), Hüingsen is located in the town of Menden (Sauerland) in the Märkisches Kreis .

Stop of the Hönnetalbahn

The Menden – Neuenrade railway ( Hönnetalbahn ) runs parallel to the Hönne with the “Lendringsen” stop on the outskirts . The trains of the Hönnetal-Bahn from Unna via Fröndenberg / Ruhr , Menden (Sauerland) to Neuenrade via Balve run in both directions every hour, on weekends every two hours.

Parallel to the track of the Hönnetalbahn there is an industrial track for the removal of the limestone that is mined in the Oberrödinghausen lime works in Hönnetal .

The railway line also cuts the road to Lendringsen, the "Fischkuhle", and so Hüingsen is temporarily "cut off" from the outside world with this single access road.

The federal highway 515 (B 515) from Menden to Balve- Sanssouci, built in the 1990s, runs 300 meters behind the level crossing . The state road 537 towards Arnsberg begins here with an exit / driveway . After another 200 meters you come to Lendringer Hauptstraße / Hönnetalstraße (former B 515).

From Hüingsen buses of the Märkische Verkehrsgesellschaft run every half hour on line 22 in the direction of Menden-Mitte and stop at five stops in town. In addition, the MVG school bus 221 runs at these stops in the morning and at noon .

Next to the “Im Ohl” industrial park to the south of the railway line is the Hüingser sports field, which is run by the “Sportfreunde Hüingsen 1950 e. V. “is used as the OBO arena. After the first year in the district league A, Sportfreunde reached 11th place in the 2005/2006 season. In the following years, the first team established itself in the upper half of the table and took third place in the 2009/2010 season. The 1st team was promoted to the district league for the first time in 68 years in the 2017/2018 season. The club also offers numerous youth teams through “Menden United” and has an inclusion team.
