The village of Asbeck , an independent municipality until 1974, is now in the area of ​​the North Rhine-Westphalian city ​​of Menden (Sauerland) .

Asbeck is located away from the Hönnetal in the southeast of the urban area. To the east lies the city of Arnsberg , and to the south lies Eisborn (city of Balve ).

On January 1, 1975, the previously independent municipality of Asbeck became part of the Balve office according to the “ Law for the reorganization of the municipalities and districts of the Sauerland / Paderborn area (Sauerland / Paderborn law) ” with the then city of Menden (Sauerland) and other municipalities new city of Menden (Sauerland). The community of Asbeck brought 1.86 square kilometers of area. Eight parcels (4 ha) from the municipality of Asbeck have been incorporated into the new town of Balve .

Asbeck, which is characterized by farms , has no industry and is a rural Sauerland village. On July 1, 2017, the "Asbeck district" had 153 inhabitants.
