Böingsen is located in the southeast of the urban area of the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Menden (Sauerland) .

In 1858 Böingsen was a separate municipality in the Iserlohn district . The municipality of Böingsen was renamed Lendringsen on January 3, 1936 .

On January 1, 1975, the previously independent municipality of Lendringsen became part of the Menden office according to the " Law for the reorganization of the municipalities and districts of the Sauerland / Paderborn area (Sauerland / Paderborn law) " with the then city of Menden (Sauerland) and other municipalities new city of Menden (Sauerland).
