U belonged to you a. also the main courtyard in Eisborn, which they sold to Goddert von Hanxleden in 1329 . This so-called castle house originally belonged to the Count of Werl and had come to the Counts of Arnsberg as a hereditary fief via the Archbishop of Cologne . They sent a count's bailiff, so that Eisborn developed into a bailiwick with its own judicial district and its own income. After the "von Hanxleden" family, in 1644 the von Haxthausen family acquired the Eisborner main courtyard. In 1754 it came into the possession of the von Landsberg-Velen zu Wocklum family. The coats of arms of the von Haxthausen and von Langen families were carved in stone above the main entrance of the castle house. According to the state archive of North Rhine-Westphalia, Westphalia department in Münster, they represented the following: in red a slanting left-hand silver slat door for von Haxthausen and in silver a slanting red sheep shears for von Langen.

The castle house was demolished around 1965.

etymology

The syllable "ice" is etymologically traced back to the old Saxon original word "esch" (around 700 AD). Esch is an area reclaimed by fire clearance ( long strip corridor ). "Born" goes back to the Old High German word for source.

Schulte-Horst

The Schulte-Horst farm is an old hereditary farm in Eisborn. The "front Horst" was originally the property of the Counts of Arnsberg and was in 1368 with the sale of the county to the Cologne archbishop and elector TafelGUT the electors - by the year 1803. 1376 was the Konrad Wrede in Melschede from Cologne archbishop Horster Hof as a pledge because he supported the sale of the county of Arnsberg with a loan. In contrast to the second Horster Hof, the "rearmost Horst", which was subordinate to the Oelinghausen Monastery as a monastery property, the Schultenhof was re-leased every 12 years by the Arnsberg-based financial administration of the Cologne Archdiocese, the Oberkellerei. All taxes (fruits, animals, money) were to be paid there.

  • As "electoral saddles", the court - if the elector was present in the country - had to provide horses and teams. In addition, he had to serve in foreign and war expeditions. Numerous grain deliveries from the Seven Years' War (1756–1763) prove this.
  • Five fires left their traces of destruction, of which the accidents in the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648) and in 1707 caused the greatest damage.
  • 12 family lines of the farm owners could be identified.
  • In the 18th century alone, a young widow with small children was faced with the task of running the farm on her own three times.
  • 27 extensively written family letters from Barge give a very detailed picture of the time (1830–1848).
