Adolf II of Dassel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adolf II von Dassel (* 1210 , † 1257 ) was the head of the family together with his cousin Ludolf IV von Dassel . Like his father Ludolf II von Dassel , he concentrated the property on the Solling and the Reinhardswald . He sold free float, including Eisborn and Kirchlinde , the latter property with confirmation by Heinrich I of Cologne to the Katharinenkloster Dortmund . The attempt to form a sovereign rule around Nienover came too late and he could not prevail against the re- strengthened Guelphs in the long run. He probably acquired the castles and counties of Meiser- Schartenberg and Schöneberg .

He was probably married to Ermentrud von Eppstein. Ermentrud was probably the sister of the Archbishop of Mainz Siegfried III. Because of this relationship, Mainz did not support the efforts of the Lippoldsberg monastery to achieve independence from the Dassel bailiffs in the 13th century.
