The airfield Schärding-Suben is a civil public airfield in  Upper Austria's  Innviertel . It is home to the Schärdinger Fliegerunion eU; A flying school is also operated on the airfield .

description

Schärding-Suben airfield is located around 5 kilometers south of Schärding and 12 kilometers from the Passau / Suben border crossing .

The light-colored roof surface of the hangar built in 1995, sloping to the southwest, bears the label "SCHÄRDING-SUBEN 122.70 Mhz" and thus communicates the frequency of calls from the airport.

The rescue helicopter " Christophorus Europa 3 " is stationed at Schärding-Suben airfield and covers a supply gap in Lower Bavaria (Passau area). The station is occupied alternately for six months by the ÖAMTC and the ADAC . The rescue team consists of Bavarians and Austrians in equal parts, although the duty roster is not adapted to the seasonal change in aircraft.

In the airport building there is a restaurant, on the other - northeast - side of the runway is the bungalow Patricks's Villa with guest rooms and mattress storage in the attic.

The airfield is home to the companies Luftbildaufnahme Scheurecker and Luftfahrttechnik Pucher .

history

Today's airfield with the address 4975 Suben , Etzelshofen 60 was opened on October 3, 1964. It is located directly next to the Lindetwald on a former wet meadow , which was called the "Kühdobel" until the middle of the 20th century and was also recorded under this name in the Franziszeischen cadastre .

The Aviation Association Schärding has existed since November 20, 1952. The first airfield in the Innviertel was built in 1956 in Gopperding , municipality of St. Florian am Inn near the Pram, even closer to the center of Schärding (southeast of it). Due to flooding, it was abandoned and moved to its current location in Suben.

A few years after the opening of the Schärding-Suben airfield, a second hangar was built, in 1978 the 800 × 23 m runway was asphalted, and in 1995 the higher hangar was built, which today bears the label with the call frequency of the airfield on the roof.

The "Sunrise FlyIn" has been carried out once a year since 2014, with numerous machines starting in the early morning. "From 0 to 100" is an action before the start of the glider course, during which passengers can experience a winch start in a glider.
