The LaForrest rock is a rocky outcrop on the Amundsen Coast of the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It rises 2.5 km west of the confluence of the Strøm Glacier in the Ross Ice Shelf from the low, icy northern slopes of the Duncan Mountains .
This area was first explored and mapped by participants in the American Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1928–1930). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the ledge in 1967 after B. A. LaForrest, a warehouse manager in the United States Navy during Operation Deep Freeze in 1966.
