La Colombina

La Colombina is a vocal quartet founded in 1990 that has dedicated itself to performing early music . The group's name derives from the Cancionero de la Colombina manuscript , which is kept in the Biblioteca de la Colombina in Seville Cathedral .

The group was founded in 1990 by the following four soloists, whose musical paths crossed as madrigalists: The Argentine Maria Cristina Kiehr (soprano), the Italian Claudio Cavina (alto) and the two Catalans Josep Bonet (tenor) and Josep Cabré (baritone) . Since 2003 the quartet has consisted of Raquel Andueza (soprano), José Hernández Pastor (alto), Josep Benet (tenor) and Josep Cabré (baritone).

La Colombina is dedicated to the religious as well as the profane music of the Renaissance and the early Baroque. The music is usually performed a capella . The quartet's repertoire is primarily Spanish, but there are also interpretations of French and Italian music. In addition to recording recordings, the quartet has so far given concerts in Spain, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Israel, Mexico, Colombia and the USA.
