La Défense is an office building with a car park in Almere in the Netherlands , the architectural feature of which is its glass facade in particular. It was designed by the architecture firm UNStudio under the direction of Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos . After five years of construction, the building was handed over to the client Eurocommerce, Deventer (NL) in 2004. Construction costs were $ 38.3 million.

The building complex is located on Willem Dreesweg directly behind Almere's main train station , on whose expanded site a business park has been created. The built-up area is 21,700 m², the underground car park has 235 parking spaces. The individual building elements are interlocked. This type of construction of the alley-like gorges results in an inhomogeneous structure, the arrangement of which in conjunction with the colorful glass facade contributes to the expressive appearance of the entire complex. The supporting element of the overall concept and the key to the project was made possible by means of a dichromatic film, a film that, thanks to special crystals, is able to change the color depending on the origin of the light.

The interior of the office space was designed using a modular design. This means that the usable area can be adapted to the respective needs at any time. The building envelope consists of printed colored glass which, depending on the amount of solar radiation, is adapted to the necessary climate requirements and is connected to source ventilation in the ceilings. The exhaust air is fed back into the heating and ventilation system via decentralized floor ducts via the facade. Exposed concrete ceiling elements with integrated component cooling achieved a high level of thermal comfort in conjunction with optimal lighting of the interior areas.
