Pinehurst is a small town in Moore County , North Carolina with a population of 9,706 (as of 2000). The city occupies a total of 38.6 km². Vince McMahon , the owner of WWE , was born in this town.
Pinehurst is famous for its golf course. The PGA Championship was held here as early as 1936 and the Ryder Cup in 1951 . In 1999, 2005 and 2014 the US Open Golf Championships (championship) took place here.
