UNStudio

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

UNStudio is an internationally oriented architecture and design office based in Amsterdam in the Netherlands . The founders are Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos . The office works in many areas, some of which go far beyond the field of activity of a classic architecture office. It deals with urban planning , infrastructure , public and private construction projects of all sizes.

approach

The name UN studio stands for united net , which translates as United Network, and explains the office's self- image of forming a network of professionals who deal with progressive architecture . UN brings together architects , craftsmen, theorists, administrators , management specialists and acquirers . Projects are seen as a public construct , in which the architect is the coordination and network expert, no longer the classic builder . The office strives for a non-hierarchical , creative and integral design process with the support of modern technologies that allow an optimal exchange of ideas. The aim of this integral design is to develop good strategies for complex projects, taking into account the program, construction and usage studies.

According to its own statements, the office wants to make a significant contribution to the development of the architecture. It tries to continuously develop its own skills in terms of design, technology, specialist knowledge and project management and to become a specialist in the implementation of complex, public projects.

development

UNStudio has been an independent office since 1999, separate from the Van Berkel & Bos architectural office . The office has been working according to the ISO standard since 2001 . In addition to the founders, there are two other partners. Tobias Wallisser became design director and Harm Wassink administrative director. In 2005 Gerard Loozekoot also became an associate of the office.
