La Seda de Barcelona SA (LSB), shortly la Seda ( Spanish for The Silk ) is a global recycling - companies based in Barcelona and a total of 14 offices throughout Europe , the Turkey and North Africa . The company is run in the form of a Sociedad Anónima , the Spanish form of a public limited company .

It is the only European manufacturer that completely produces and supplies PET containers - from raw materials, design, injection molding and blow molding to the finished product. In 2007, for example, the Australian company Amcor sold its packaging bottle production in Europe to the company.

La Seda had to file for bankruptcy in the summer of 2013 , and in January 2014 the court ruled to liquidate it . At the end of March 2015 it was announced that the US company Plastipak Packaging had signed the takeover of the APPE Packaging Division (PET bottle production) from the bankruptcy estate of the LSB Group. APPE, based in Wrexham and with production sites in Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Germany, Turkey and Morocco is one of the leading European manufacturers of PET blanks and bottles.
