La Demoiselle et le Violoncelliste is a French animated short film directed by Jean-François Laguionie in 1965.

action

A cellist comes to the coast to play the cello. Not far from the beach, a woman stands in the water and fishes with a net. While the man is playing, the sea gets rough and the wind comes up. The woman is carried out to sea. The man packs his cello, gets into a rowboat and tries to hurry to the woman's aid, but his boat capsizes. A little later, man and woman find themselves on the sea floor. He plays for her, but she is kidnapped by an oversized crab. The man follows her and is attacked by a narwhal who impaled his cello and later pierced the crab. A fight ensues between the whale and the crab and the man and woman escape. The cello washes ashore. When men and women want to leave the sea, they see numerous people swimming or fishing on the beach. The sight of the couple makes people freeze. Man and woman go back into the sea and later hurry out of the water at a deserted place.
