La fiancée (Eng. The Bride , occasionally The Fiancee ) is an opéra-comique by Daniel-François-Esprit Auber . Eugène Scribe wrote the libretto . The joint work Daniel le lapidaire ou les contes de l'atelier by Raymond Bruckner and Michel Masson served him as a basis (this work appeared under the pseudonym Michel Raymond ).
The premiere in France took place on January 10, 1829 on the stage of the Opéra-Comique ( Paris ). At the end of the same year, Louis Angely had already translated the libretto and staged this opera at the Königsstädtisches Theater in Berlin . Karl August von Lichtenstein provided another translation / arrangement of this piece for the Court Opera in Vienna , where this work celebrated another premiere in 1831. Later Friederike Ellmenreich also provided a translation of this opera libretto.
