Labadee ( French Labadie ) is a peninsula with a port in Haiti around ten kilometers northwest of Cap-Haïtien , Northern Department (5 km west). The place is about 200 km as the crow flies from the capital Port-au-Prince on the north coast of Hispaniola .
The Royal Caribbean Cruises has leased a site in Labadee and runs this private beach that is protected by fences and security forces. Every year around one million cruise passengers come to swim.
After the severe earthquake on January 12, 2010 , the company offered or approved the use of the port for landing aid goods.
