The labyrinth is an extensive plateau in the East Antarctic Victoria Land, heavily furrowed by erosion . It is located at the western end of the Wright Valley at the foot of the Upper Wright Glacier .
Participants in a 1958-1959 campaign as part of New Zealand's Victoria University's Antarctic Expeditions named it so because the furrowed dolerite rock gives the plain the appearance of a labyrinth .
