The Lac Chibougamau is a lake in the regional county municipality Jamesie (Administrative Region Nord-du-Québec ) of the Canadian province of Quebec .
It is located 12 km southeast of the city of the same name and 185 km northwest of Lac Saint-Jean . The lake is 35 km long and has an area of 206 km². The lake's water flows over a short drain into the neighboring Lac aux Dorés to the west . This is separated from Lac Chibougamau by a long, narrow headland, the peninsule Gouin . The entire lake system is drained by the Rivière Chibougamau .
