Rivière Chibougamau is a river in the west of the Canadian province of Québec , southeast of James Bay .
It drains the lake system of Lac Chibougamau and Lac aux Dorés . He leaves this at the southern end of the Lac aux Dorés. It first flows through the lakes Lac Ledden , Lac David , Lac Dulieux and Lac Simon in a roughly westerly direction . He then turns to the northeast and passes the lakes Lac Scott and Lac Gwillim . Now he makes an arc to the southwest and flows through the lakes Lac Chevrillon , Lac Barlow , Lac Opémisca and Lac Michwacho . In its lower section there are no significant lakes along its course. Here it flows briefly to the north and then only to the west and south-west. It takes up the Rivière Obatogamau coming from the south and joins after a distance of about 200 km with the Rivière Opawica also coming from the south to the Rivière Waswanipi .
