Rivière Opawica is a river in the southwest of the Canadian province of Québec .

It forms the outflow of Lac Gabriel , 65 km south of Chibougamau . It flows in a westerly direction through a multitude of lakes, most of which represent a widening of the river: Lac Caopatina , Lac des Vents , Lac du Bras Coupé , Lac Doda , Lac Françoise , Lac La Ronde , Lac Lessard , Lac Lichen , Lac Wachigabau and Lac Opawica . In Lac Caopatina it takes up the Rivière Roy , which drains the Lac Surprise to the south . Finally, coming from the south, it reaches the Rivière Chibougamau , with which it forms the Rivière Waswanipi .
