The Lac Saint-Louis is a 148 km² large lake in the southwest of the Canadian province of Quebec . It is located southwest of Montreal in the area where the Ottawa flows into the St. Lawrence River and belongs to the Hochelaga archipelago .
The lake is bounded by the Île de Montréal to the north and east and by the Île Perrot to the west . To the south lies the city of Beauharnois on the mainland . Two narrow arms of the Ottawa River around the Île Perrot create a connection to the Lac des Deux Montagnes to the north; the slight difference in height is overcome by a lock each .
The lake is popular with sailors . There are several yacht clubs on the north bank. In the lake itself, which forms part of the Saint Lawrence Seaway , are the Île Dorval , Île Dowker and other small islands.
