The Lackfabrik Lackhausen is a historic building on the outskirts of Wesel on the Lower Rhine . A chemical company is based there (2018). The factory's former factory owner's house is a listed building and is used by Henkes Lack Union GmbH as an administration building.

Location and building

The paint factory is located in the northwest of the Wesel urban area around one kilometer northwest of the Lackhausen district and around one kilometer north of the Obrighoven district . Statistically it is assigned to the area of ​​the district Lackhausen. It is located on Bundesstrasse 70 ( Brüner Landstrasse ), which connects Wesel with Brünen .

Adjacent to the factory building is the former factory owner's house, which is a listed building. It is a villa with a residential tower.

History and use

In 1867 the company "Tacke Lacke" was founded in Lackhausen and subsequently the paint factory with its factory owner's house was built. The company emerged from an even older company that was founded in Wesel in 1809. The chemist Ida Tacke (1896–1978), who discovered the chemical element rhenium , emerged from the family of manufacturers . The company was able to establish itself permanently and, based on the place name, used the advertising slogan “Lacke aus Lackhausen”.

The paint manufacturer Henkes Lack Union GmbH is currently based. This is a chemical company with a high degree of specialization. In 2015, Henkes Lack Union GmbH bought the entire site and further expanded the production area internally.
