Kampftrinker Stimmungshits is a German punk album series which, as the name suggests, deals with excessive alcohol consumption. The original series consisted of three parts and was released between 1990 and 1996 on the independent label Snake Records and distributed by AM Records . Part 4 was published in 2005 by Suppenkazpers Noize Imperium and was based on the original design.

Part 1

Part 1 was published for the tenth anniversary of the independent label Mülleimer Records , which existed from 1981 to 1986. Label boss Thomas Ziegler had meanwhile founded Snake Records, which belonged to the distribution of AM Music. The sampler appeared at the same time as the first part of the series Schlachtrufe BRD . This parallel release was also planned on the occasion of German reunification , in order to introduce a new generation of punks to the music of the FRG. The battle cry series was supposed to represent the political history of punk, while the fighting drinkers mood hits were more fun punk . All songs were already available on the releases of Mülleimer Records and Snake Records. Just drink the songs . Drinking and local ban of Herbärds as well as wine, women and singing by Normahl were represented in exclusive remix versions on the album.

The compilation was released in parallel on CD and LP. The LP version has the label code SNAKE 020, the CD version SNAKE 021.

reception

Like most products from AM Music, the sampler series was aimed primarily at German punk fans, that is to say the more “consumer and party-oriented parts of the punk scene”. However, the first sampler was released at a time that was very interesting for German punk, at least from a commercial point of view. In particular, the politically interested punks and hardcore punks , who made up a not insignificant part of the scene in the 1990s, rejected the sampler series because of the glorification of alcohol consumption. In retrospect , Joachim Hiller wrote in the Ox-Fanzine :

“Whoever needed an impetus at the time of reunification to mentally say goodbye to punk and seek salvation in hardcore (...) found their decision confirmed by a publication such as 'Kampftrinker Stimmungshits'. Punk, that was apparently just a Carnival-style booze soundtrack for studded leather-jacketed pedestrian zone zombies (...). Now everyone is allowed their alcohol-fueled escapism (...), but the crap that was compiled here by the clever businessman Ziegler with cold calculation is really underground. "
