Mental contamination was a German punk band from Bonn .
history
Geistige Verunigung was founded in 1981 by the brothers Rainer (vocals) and Jörg Kaufmann (rhythm guitar). After some of the British Oi! -Punk influenced demo tapes, the band turned to political German punk and contributed the song Schwarzer Block to the sampler Beethoven's Vengeance in 1988 . For the band's tenth anniversary, the self-produced debut LP Blitzgulasch was released in 1991 , followed by contributions to various sampler series, including a. " Battle cries BRD ", "Partisans", "Against Nazis" and "Nightmare Melody".
In 1993 Geistige Verunigung was signed by the then controversial "commercial label" AM Music, which was followed by the release of the single Moscow (a cover version of the hit of the same name by Dschinghis Khan ) and the second album Plenare inmates . The album reached four-digit sales and brought the band further popularity and national attention. The next and last album Steinschlag was released in 1996. The band's last concert for the time being took place in 1998 at Kult41 in Bonn.
