Springtoifel (spelling: SpringtOifel ) is a Mainz Oi, founded in 1981 and influenced by the punk rock of the 70s ! -Tape. In addition to the classical instrumentation (electric guitar, bass, drums), the band used the Hammond organ from the beginning and also draws on influences from both Ska and non- scene music styles such as Tango , Bossa Nova and folk music . SpringtOifel, often abbreviated as "StOi", served as a role model and pioneer for many bands that followed in the scene. Well-known German bands in the scene today, such as Broilers , Loikaemie , 4 Promille , Volxsturm and many others, had their first concerts in front of a large audience in the opening act of the SpringtOifel.

history

Beginning in the 1980s

Of the founding members, Olaf and Paule are still there in 2007. The first live show was on November 11, 1981 in Mainz , after that, until 1984, mostly regional appearances made the quintet better known in the national punk and Oi! Scene.

A first demo tape was recorded in 1984 and the following year the debut album Tanz der Teufel was released on the Tübingen label We Bite Records. They recorded the 1986 album Lässighund as a quartet. After that, the live record Ein Geselliger Abend came out on their own label Miesnitzdörfer & Jansen (M&J) . The SpringtOifel never valued extended concert tours. They were always limited to a maximum of 2 to 3 consecutive concerts, which was due to the professional and family obligations of the band members and the fact that they "prefer to perform in front of 500 than 5 people and prefer concerts in medium-sized halls on the weekend". (Quote from singer Olaf)

The 1990s

SpringtOifel are considered to be an "apolitical" formation, which, however, when the German skinhead scene threatened to drift to the right, with clear texts ("Let yourself not be used", "Black & White" - both from the LP Sex, Droogs & R'n ' R ), opposed this tendency.

In 1992 the band brought a lawsuit against the label Metal Enterprises , which had released the LP Schwere Jungs in 1988. The reason for the process was a violation of the so-called impairment ban . Metal Enterprises had released two tracks from this album without the band's knowledge and consent on the sampler 6 for Germany , on which in addition to the SpringtOifeln, the Böhsen Onkelz , Boots & Braces and AOK , the neo-Nazi bands Saccara and Kahlkopf - which are also in Metal Enterprises were under contract - were represented, published. The higher regional court Frankfurt / M. (Decision of December 20, 1994, GRUR 1995, 215) agreed with the band and the sampler had to be taken off the market.

In 1991 the album 10 Jahre Satanische Takte was released , in 1992 the MC SpringtOifel Live 82-92 and in 1993 the single Bread and Games . After the release of the album Sex, Droogs & Rock'n 'Roll at the end of 1994, they released the CD 5 Mainzeldroogs, recorded live in Berlin , in Berlin . In 1999 the party record Weck, Worscht & Oi was released with twelve songs.

At the end of 2000, the SpringtOifel released the album "Frohes Fest & Guten Rutsch" with an adaptation of a text by Erich Kästner and their own interpretation of the Christmas carol " Silent Night, Holy Night ".

For the 20th anniversary of the band, the live double album Lieder aus 2001er Nacht , recorded in the Haus der Jugend in Mainz , came out, for which they reworked some of their best-known titles and presented nine new tracks. In 2003 they produced Ettalprednik and made a single with cover versions of Motörhead under the name MotörtOifel .

In the years 2000 to 2005 they appeared again more in concerts, which took place with visitor numbers of 500 to 1200 guests all over Germany. In 2002 a project single with two Johnny Cash cover versions was released. In September 2007 the LP / CD Angel Trumpets and Devil Trombones was released. An anniversary tour with numerous concerts in Germany took place from autumn 2006 to winter 2008. As part of this tour, a live DVD was recorded on December 1, 2007 in Leipzig's Conne Island with a five-person camera team, which is sold worldwide. In addition, numerous musicians, guests and friends from the past 26 years of SpringtOifel appeared on the stage.

In recent years SpringtOifel has played at various festivals with international Oi, Ska and Punk greats such as B. UK Subs , The Exploited and The 4-Skins .

In 2012 a best-of double CD was released on the Berlin label Puke Music, on which 46 songs from 30 years of SpringtOifel can be heard.

With his last concert on December 7, 2013 in Leipzig's Conne Island, founding member, singer and keyboardist Olaf ended his band membership.
