Ladislav Haškovec
Ladislav Haškovec (born May 18, 1866 in Bechyně , Bohemia , † January 16, 1944 in Prague ) was a Czech psychiatrist who first described the symptoms of akathisia in 1901 .
Life
Ladislav Haškovec studied medicine at the Charles University in Prague and worked there in psychiatry from 1892. In 1916 he was appointed professor. From 1925 until his retirement in 1936 he was director of the Clinic for Nervous Diseases at Charles University in Prague. Ladislav Haškovec was married and had three children.

His most outstanding achievement is the discovery of akathisia. Before the Societé de Neurologie in Paris, he reported on November 7, 1901 about two such cases, which were then published in the Revue Neurologique . The disease, which today usually occurs as a side effect of neuroleptics , was discovered decades before such drugs were introduced.
