The Lago Cochrane is a binational lake in southern Chile and Argentina . It is called Lago Cochrane in Chile and Lago Pueyrredón in Argentina . The lake is located in Region XI (Chile) or in the Province of Santa Cruz (Argentina). The small town of Cochrane is about five kilometers west of the lake on the Río Cochrane .
The lake was named after Thomas Cochrane or after Juan Martín de Pueyrredón .
The lake is 112 m above sea level and has a surface area of 320 km² (176.25 km² in Chile and 145 km² in Argentina), a length of 68 km (20 km in Argentina) and a maximum width of 6.8 km . Its maximum depth is 300 m.
A national park ( Spanish: Reserva Nacional Lago Cochrane o Tamango ) was established north of the lake on Chile's side in 1967 .
