The Laguna Lagunillas is a lake on the eastern edge of the Cordillera Central in the Potosí Department in Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The outflow-free lake is located on the eastern edge of the barren plateau of the Bolivian Altiplano and is framed by mountain peaks that rise up to a height of about 3800 m. The lake is at an altitude of 3534 m and has an area of about 136 hectares , which, however, is subject to slight fluctuations depending on the precipitation and the season. The lake is three kilometers east of the village of Tecoya .

The climate of the region is a typical time of day climate , in which the temperature fluctuations during the day are greater than during the year.
The annual average temperature in the valleys of the region is around 17 ° C, the monthly values fluctuate only slightly between 14 ° C in June / July and 19 ° C from November to January. The annual rainfall is almost 500 mm, the months May to September are arid with monthly values below 15 mm, only in January a rainfall of 100 mm is reached.

The plain around the Laguna Lagunillas is only sparsely populated, but it is used intensively for agriculture. It has a length of about five kilometers and a width of one and a half kilometers. A country road runs through the plain in a north-south direction, which leads south from Huantapita on the Río Huantapita to the Ruta 5 highway and on to Betanzos .
