Tecoya (also: Ticoya ) is a town in the Potosí department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Tecoya is the central place of the canton Tecoya in the municipality Betanzos in the province of Cornelio Saavedra . The village and is located at an altitude of 3360  m on the Río Ticoya, which flows downstream over the Río Jachcha Llullu into the Río Khona Paya, which is a tributary of the Río Miculpaya.

The national highway Ruta 5 leads south past Tecoya, which leads from La Palizada in the Department of Santa Cruz via Sucre and Betanzos to Potosí, Ticatica , Pulacayo and Uyuni to the border with Chile . At the eastern entrance to Betanzos, a country road branches off to the north from Ruta 5 and reaches Tecoya after seven kilometers.
