La Palizada is a town in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

La Palizada is the neighboring town of the country town of San Isidro and is located in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Comarapa in the province of Manuel María Caballero . The village is located at an altitude of 1568  m on the left bank of the Río San Isidro , which flows from Comarapa below La Palizada into the Río Mizque .

La Palizada is located on the southeastern edge of the Cordillera Oriental , which forms the transition from the Bolivian lowlands to the high mountain ranges of the Andes. The climate is mild-temperate and a typical daytime climate , in which the temperature differences between day and night are more pronounced than between the seasons.

The annual average temperature is 20 ° C and fluctuates only slightly between 17 ° C in July and just under 22 ° C in November and December. The annual precipitation of 640 mm is sufficient for agriculture and reaches monthly values ​​between 100 and 125 mm in the summer months from December to February; however, the dry season with values ​​well below 40 mm from April to October is relatively long.

Transport network

La Palizada is located 220 kilometers by road west of Santa Cruz , the capital of the department.

From Santa Cruz, the paved road Ruta 9 first leads 14 kilometers in a south-westerly direction to El Carmen , where Ruta 7 branches off to the south. The Ruta 7 then leads via the cities of La Angostura and Samaipata to La Palizada and on via San Isidro and Comarapa to Cochabamba .
