The Laika-Verlag ( spelling : LAIKA-Verlag ) is a publisher for political literature.

history

The publishing house was founded in 2009 by Carmen Bitsch, Willi Baer and Karl-Heinz Dellwo in Hamburg and was run as a GmbH & Co. KG. Bitsch left the publishing house in 2011, Baer in 2017. In 2019 Dellwo announced the discontinuation of the publisher.

As the logo suggests, the name of the publisher alluded to the dog Laika , the first human being to be transported into space.

The library of the resistance appeared in the publishing house , edited a. a. by Karl-Heinz Dellwo . In this series, volumes appeared on the history of left-wing movements, such as the killing of Benno Ohnesorg or the coup in Chile in 1973 . The books combined current and historical texts by authors such as Régis Debray or Karl Heinz Roth with documentaries on accompanying DVDs .

In the LAIKATheorie series , political and philosophical writings e.g. Published by Slavoj Žižek , Werner Seppmann or Ellen Meiksins Wood . In the edition Provo published books on current issues such as the riots in Greece or conflict over the Mavi Marmara .

In 2012, the publisher brought out a new edition of the book Das deutsche Volk Klagen an , in which the authors are named for the first time.
