The Lake Verkhneye ( English , Russian Озеро Верхнее Ozero Werchneje , German , Lake Superior ' ) is a lake on the Ingrid Christensen Coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth country . In the Vestfold Mountains , it is 2 km northeast of Krok Lake .
Aerial photographs were taken during the US American Operation Highjump (1946–1947), during a Soviet Antarctic expedition in 1956 and between 1957 and 1958 as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia translated the Russian name into English.
