Lakka ei village on the Freetown Peninsula in District Western Area Rural District in Sierra Leone . The village is about 15 kilometers southwest of the state capital Freetown . The city is known for its long beaches . Accordingly, Lakka's main industries are tourism and fishing . Lakka has an estimated 4500 inhabitants (as of 2010).
Lakka is inhabited by different ethnic groups. The largest group are the Bullom-Sherbro and the Krios . Most of the villagers are fishermen . Lakka has its own hospital , as well as hotels and several elementary schools and a secondary school.
In 2014 Lakka - like other places in the region - was affected by the Ebola epidemic .
