Lambert (I) Alardus , also Lambert Alard , (born January 27, 1602 in Krempe , † May 29, 1672 in Brunsbüttel ) was a German Lutheran theologian .

Live and act

Lambert Alardus was a son of the pastor Wilhelm Alard (us) and the grandson of the Brussels preacher Franz Alard . He attended schools in Krempe and Salzwedel and signed up on July 25, 1619 in the matriculation of the University of Helmstedt . On January 14, 1620, he moved to the academic high school in Hamburg . For the winter semester of 1621 he enrolled at the University of Leipzig , where he received the Baccalaureus on February 6, 1622 and the master's degree on January 29, 1624.

Matthias Hoë von Hoënegg made Alardus Poeta Laureatus Caesareus at Leipzig University in September 1624 . From 1624 to 1625 Alardus worked as a lecturer at the Sorø Akademi and in September 1625 received a call as a deacon in Krempe, where his father worked as a preacher. Later he was appointed pastor in Brunsbüttel.

In 1630 Alardus took over the positions of school inspector and assessor of the consistory in Meldorf in addition to the pastor's office . On August 8, 1643 Matthias Hoë von Hoënegg appointed him Lic. Theol. Due to the Thirty Years War , Alardus could not receive his certificate personally in Leipzig, but had to have it sent to him.

Alardus was considered extremely educated. His numerous theological writings, collections of sermons, poems and disputes as well as his knowledge of the Greek language made him widely known. At the same time, he was considered an extremely complicated character. As a result, in 1649 he got into a protracted conflict with his congregation and other pastors and almost was removed from office. General Superintendent Stephan Klotz finally ended the dispute.
