The Lancair ES is a single-engine, four-seater, cantilever low- wing aircraft made of composite material with a fixed nose wheel landing gear . The wings with a span of 10.8 meters have a McWilliams-RXM5-217 profile at the root , which merges into a NACA-64-212 profile at the wing tips . The wings have an area of ​​thirteen square meters and are equipped with landing flaps . The recommended engine output for the ES is between 210 PS (154 kW) and 310 PS (228 kW). The standard engine is a four-stroke engine of the type Continental IO-550 with an output of 310 hp (228 kW). The average construction time for the aircraft is 2000 hours.

In May 2016 Lancair announced that it would stop producing new ES kits. In 2017, the company sold the product to Mark and Conrad Huffstutler, who continue to manufacture it under the name Lancair International LLC in Uvalde , Texas .

Modifications

Of the ninety copies built up to December 2011, at least two were modified to accommodate a Lycoming IO 540 engine .
