The Lancair Sentry is a kit aircraft from the US manufacturer Lancair . It is based on the Lancair IV -P and was designed for use as a military training aircraft. The kit cost 119,900 when it was introduced US dollar .

construction

The Lancair Sentry is a cantilever low- wing aircraft with a retractable nose wheel landing gear . It is powered by a Walter M601D - turboprop engine with 708  hp (521  kW ). It is based on the Lancair IV, in which the upper part of the fuselage and the vertical stabilizer have been modified. In contrast to the four-seater IV, the Sentry is a tiered two-seater in tandem configuration with a cockpit canopy that opens to the rear. The rudder unit was enlarged to improve stability around the yaw axis . Like the Lancair IV, the Sentry is made entirely of carbon fiber reinforced plastic . The cruising speed also remained unchanged at 320 kn (593 km / h).
