Landscape element
As elements of the landscape constituents of the landscape called.
Basics
Landscape elements are, on the one hand, point-like elements of the landscape that can be clearly separated from their surroundings and have the same use, shared ecological function and uniform structure. On the other hand, a single factor in the landscape complex that can be assigned to a specific environmental medium (e.g. soil , climate , water ) or a specific usage activity can be viewed as a landscape element. Furthermore, the smallest area that can be sensibly delimited for ecological mapping or use ( ecotope , geotope , biotope ) with a uniform structure and comparable natural features is referred to as a landscape element.
In terms of visual assessment, landscape can be distinguished by four main elements: shape (the extent or shape of an object that is perceived as coherent), line (an existing or imagined path, a border, boundary, or intersection of two surfaces), color or Texture .
Components
Landscape elements created by humans are for example:
- Hedge fringes and islets on the edge of or in fields that have been planted to protect against wind and drying out.
- Avenues along streets.
- Individual trees such as high fruit trunks or oaks as shade trees on pastures.
- Field borders , loess walls and dry stone walls to reduce erosion damage and to facilitate cultivation.
- Heathland created by deforestation and grazing.
- Stone bars were created as meadows or fields during the reclamation of stony areas. They represent an extremely important habitat, especially for culture followers, both plants and animals.
- Landscape elements created for recreational use such as golf courses .
- Landscape elements created from industrial use such as quarry ponds .
Many of the landscape elements of the old cultivated landscapes that were created and preserved in traditional agriculture are obsolete or even a hindrance in today's large-scale agriculture. They are therefore given special protection against destruction or removal through designation as cultural monuments and require multiple land conservation measures for their permanent preservation.
Natural landscape elements were created without human intervention. They can be small areas such as pools , groups of bushes and isolated rocks or they can spread out over an area such as forests and their edges, rivers, lakes, mountain meadows, mountain forests , moors or riparian forests .
