The Soest district landscape protection area with an area of ​​around 31,320  hectares is located in the Soest district . The area was designated as a landscape protection area (LSG) by the Arnsberg district government as a higher landscape authority in 2009 . The LSG is located in the areas of the cities of Erwitte , Geseke , Rüthen , Soest , Warstein and Werl as well as the communities Anröchte , Bad Sassendorf , Möhnesee and Welver . The LSG goes to the edge of the settlement. The southern areas of the LSG belong to the Arnsberg Forest Nature Park .

The LSG includes large areas of forest, grassland and fields in the Soest district outside of the landscape plan areas and settlement areas.

Protection purpose

As with other LSGs in the Soest district, the designation was carried out to maintain or restore the efficiency of the natural balance; because of the diversity, uniqueness or beauty of the landscape or because of its special importance for recreation, especially in the Arnsberg Forest Nature Park . In this case, the LSG was designated because of its importance as a networking and retreat area in the intensively used agricultural landscape and the equipment of the LSG with invigorating and structured elements such as B. forest areas, rows of trees, orchards, bushes, hedges, sledges and watercourses.

Legal regulations

As in the other landscape protection areas in the landscape planning area, the LSG prohibits the construction of structures. The Lower Nature Conservation Authority can issue exceptional permits for buildings of all kinds. As in the other landscape protection areas, there is a prohibition in the LSG to plant Christmas trees , ornamental branches and tree nurseries . First afforestation is prohibited south of the Möhne .
