Benny Welter (born April 5, 1981 ) is a Luxembourg ice hockey player who has been playing for the IHC Beaufort since 2011 . Since 2016 he takes with the team at the Belgian National League Division I in part.

Career

Benny Welter started his career at Hiversport Luxembourg . From 2000 to 2004 he was the record champion Tornado Luxembourg , for whom he played both in the lower class in Germany and in the Luxembourg league . In 2003 he won the Luxembourg championship with the club. After he had played from 2004 to 2008 at EHC Troisdorf in the fourth-class regional league North Rhine-Westphalia, he returned to Tornado and was there in the French division 3 , the third highest division in the country on the ice. He has been under contract with the IHC Beaufort since 2011 . There he first played in the Rhineland-Palatinate League , a regional division of the fifth German league level. Since 2016 he has been playing with the team in the Belgian National League Division I , the country's second-highest division.

International

In the junior division, Welter played for Luxembourg at the U18-D European Championship in 1998 and the U18 World Championship of the European Division 2 in 2000 and in 2001 in the qualification for Division III of the U20 World Championship .

With the men's national team , Welter first took part in the 2000 D World Championship . After switching to the current division system, he played in Division II in 2002 , 2004 and 2018 , from which the Moselle Franconians had to relegate. They remained without a win in 2002 and 2004, while the 2-1 victory against North Korea in 2018 was not enough to keep them up. In 2003 , when he was immediately promoted again, he played in 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , when he was named the top scorer and third-best scorer behind his compatriot Robert Beran and New Zealander Brett Speirs , 2010 , In 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , when he was voted the best player of his team again, in 2014 , 2015 and 2017 , when the Luxembourgers were promoted to Division II 13 years after relegation, in Division III.
