The landscape protection area Salwey from the planning area boundary at Schliprüthener Mühle to the east of Sieperting with 55.4  hectares is located in the municipality of Eslohe . The area was in 2008 by the council of Hochsauerlandkreises with the landscape plan Eslohe as a conservation area designated (LSG). The LSG consists of four sub-areas. The LSG is interrupted by the localities of Obersalwey , Niedersalwey and Sieperting . These are valley areas of the Salwey . The LSG extends to the western municipal boundary.

Legal framework

The Salwey landscape protection area from the planning area boundary at Schliprüthener Mühle to the east of Sieperting has been designated as one of 43 type C landscape planning areas, meadow valleys and significant extensive grassland in the municipality of Eslohe. As in the other type C landscape protection areas, the LSG prohibits the conversion of grassland and fallow grassland into arable land or other forms of use. First afforestation and the creation of Christmas tree crops is prohibited. A maximum of two years of arable use within twelve years is permitted, provided that this prepares the renewal of the sward. This is considered an extended nursing shift . In the case of extended care changes , a minimum distance of five meters from the central water bed must be maintained. In the municipality of Eslohe there is also a nature reserve of type A and 35 of type B with other lesser requirements.

Protection purpose

The designation was made to supplement the nature reserve designation in the Eslohe floodplains to create a network of open-land biotopes so that animals and plants can keep migrating and spreading, and to preserve the occurrence of protected bird species and protect species-rich plant communities.
