State election in Lippe 1844

The state elections in Lippe in 1844 were the second elections in the Principality of Lippe , which were carried out in accordance with the electoral law of the Land constitution for the Principality of Lippe of July 6, 1836.

The vote

According to the constitution, 21 members were to be elected in three curiae, each with seven members. The knighthood, the citizens of the cities and the landowners of the villages and towns of the country each appointed seven members. According to the constitution, the election period was six years.

Exceptions were the representatives of the first estate, who were newly elected before the state parliament session (1845 and 1847).

As part of the March Revolution , the Landtag was convened for two Landtag sessions in 1848. In April 1849, the new parliament, the People's Chamber, was elected according to the new electoral law and the mandate of the old parliament ended.

The committee

The Landtag should meet for a Landtag session every two years. In the time between the state parliaments, a committee carried out the tasks of the state parliament, which was composed of one member from each curia. The state parliament elected Mr. von Stietencron for the first stand, Moritz Leopold Petri for the second stand and Councilor Antze (Uflen) for the third stand. Court court auditor Dr. Roses chosen.
