State election in Lippe 1884

The state elections in Lippe took place in November 1884 . The 21 members of the Lippe Landtag were elected .

General

The elections were held on November 3rd for the second grade and on November 4th for the third grade. The runoff election in the sixth constituency of the third class took place on November 22nd, the runoff election in the fifth constituency of the third class on November 29th. The first class MPs were elected on October 5th. During the electoral period up to 1888, the following new elections took place:

  • March 14, 1885: Second constituency, first class (B)
  • December 7, 1885: Fourth constituency, second class
  • April 9, 1886: Sixth constituency, third class

21 MPs were elected in three classes of seven MPs each. The first class was made up of the most highly taxed citizens. In the first class, those who paid at least 90 marks in property tax were eligible to vote in subgroup A. This sub-group elected five MPs in two constituencies. Subgroup B comprised those who paid at least 180 marks in income tax and elected two MPs in two constituencies. The second class was made up of taxpayers with property and income tax of at least 36 marks, the third class all other eligible voters. The 2nd and 3rd class voted in seven one-person constituencies each.

Asemissi was elected in the fourth and fifth constituencies and accepted the mandate in the fourth constituency. This made a new election in the fifth constituency necessary.

During the electoral period, parliamentary seats had to be filled again through new elections.
