Lang Yabou

Lang Yabou (born January 10, 1970 in Bambako ; spelling variants: Yarboe or Yabo) is a Gambian diplomat. Since mid-2018 he has been the Gambia's permanent representative to the United Nations.

Life

Lang Yabou earned a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management from Sheffield Hallam University in the UK in October 2004 and a Bachelor Degree in Commerce from the University of Pune, India.

Yabou began his work in the public service in 1994. From 2008 to 2012, Yabou was Deputy Ambassador and Deputy High Commissioner and head of the office of the Gambian High Commission in Nigeria. From September 2012 to 2013 he was Deputy State Secretary for Administration and Finance at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Gambia. Yabou was the Gambian ambassador in Madrid (Spain) from April 2013 to 2018. He was also accredited in Italy, Greece, Malta and Portugal as well as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

In late July he became the President Adama Barrow as permanent representative at the United Nations determined. He succeeds Mamadou Tangara , who was appointed foreign minister after a cabinet reshuffle. Yabou presented his letter of accreditation to the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, on October 18, 2018.
