location

The street development characterizes the elongated, street village-like place that lies between Grund , West and Ronsdorf . In 2015 the houses in Langenhaus No. 29, 31, 46 and the memorial are under monument protection. The Hofschaft formerly comprised a number of farms .

There were also two tourist restaurants as well as a grocery store. Several small businesses used to be located here. Today it is primarily a factory for tools and rim trees, which dominates the commercial sector here. Furthermore, some craft businesses have their headquarters here. There is also a cat hotel. Otherwise residential development predominates. For a long time, house number 46 was a pliers factory that Carl Hallenscheid had built in 1902. In 1908 the front building was added as an office, five years later the hall was added.

Now it became a house.

history

Thanks to a generous foundation, a memorial was made possible in Langenhaus on the thoroughfare. Otto Schmidt from Elberfeld provided the design for the imposing monument with granite columns showing a steel helmet, a side gun and a laurel branch on the base.

It was inaugurated on June 9, 1923 and was initially dedicated to the fallen of the First World War. In the 1960s, the Langenhauser Landwehr and Warrior Comradeship in the Grund school district collected donations in order to add the names of those killed in the Second World War on a cast-iron plaque.
