Langri Thangpa Dorje Sengge ( Tib. GLang ri thang pa rdo rje seng ge ; * 1054 , † 1123 ) was an important teacher of the Kadam tradition of Tibetan Buddhism . He was the founder of the Langthang monastery ( glang thang dgon ). He was a pupil of Potowa (1031-1105).
He is the author of the work Eight Verses of Training the Mind (བློ་ སྦྱོང་ ཚིགས་ བརྒྱད་ མ ་.; . Wyl blo sbyong tshigs brgyad ma ;. English Eight Verses of Training the Mind) that acts as a succinct summary of the Lojong (བློ་ སྦྱོང་; Wyl. Blo sbyong ) teachings of Mahayana Buddhism apply. It is said that he is an emanation of the Buddha Amitabha .
He is said to have laughed only three times during his life.
