Lanhoso is a municipality in northern Portugal .
Lanhoso belongs to the Póvoa de Lanhoso district in the Braga district , east of Braga, has an area of 6.1 km² and has 720 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
The Castro de Lanhoso was discovered during the construction of the road to the Santuerio da Nossa Senhora do Pilar and the castle of Lanhoso, which dates from the 12th century, on the hillside, together with various round houses and Roman finds. The discovery of three gold-plated torques (neck rings) and a bronze helmet deserve special mention . A copper dagger and Penha ceramics testify to an older settlement of the place. The Roman Geira, the Roman road XVIII from Bracara Augusta (Braga) to Asturica Augusta (Astorga) in Spain, passes at the foot of the castle hill.
