Lanthanum manganese (III) oxide is an inorganic chemical compound belonging to the manganite group .

Extraction and presentation

Lanthanum manganese (III) oxide can be obtained by reacting manganese carbonate dihydrate or manganese (III) oxide with lanthanum oxide in the air.

properties

Lanthanum manganese (III) oxide is a gray, odorless solid that is practically insoluble in water. It has an orthorhombic crystal structure of the distorted perovskite type with the space group Pnma (space group no. 62) . There are also non-stoichiometric forms (LaMn 1-x O 3 + x / 2 (x <0.46) with the same structure. There is also a phase with the space group R 3 c (space group no. 167) . Lanthanum manganese (III ) oxide is an antiferromagnetic insulator and the superordinate compound of colossal magnetoresistive materials . Template: room group / 62 Template: room group / 167

use

Lanthanum manganese (III) oxide is used as a sputtering material.
