The Lanxess Tower is a high-rise in the Deutz district of Cologne . It was originally built in 1969 as the headquarters of Lufthansa .
history
The building, which was originally 95 m high and fitted with gold-dampened windows, was inaugurated on April 15, 1970 and served as the headquarters of Deutsche Lufthansa AG (“Lufthansa high-rise”). In September 2007 Lufthansa moved out of the building and moved to its new location in Cologne-Deutz .
The building was acquired by Warburg-Henderson in December 2009 for a special real estate fund , the sole investor of which is the Rheinische Versorgungskassen . The office high-rise, which consists of two components, was completely rebuilt and rented by Hochtief Projektentwicklung GmbH by mid-2013. Even during the construction phase, the entire building ensemble, which consists of the high-rise and the floors on the Rhine, was called maxCologne . This designation is still used by the landlords (HIH and KUK) and the building operator (RGM). After completion, the high-rise became the Lanxess Tower at Lanxess AG's own request . The plan was to build around 45,000 m² of office space and around 470 parking spaces; the rental units should be 500–35,000 m² in size. The finished office building corresponds to the " DGNB Standard Gold".
In May 2011, Lanxess AG announced that it would move its corporate headquarters from its current location in Leverkusen to the high-rise building by the end of 2013. The company rented the 22-story office tower. The move took place in the summer of 2013 and the official inauguration was celebrated on September 3, 2013. The space between the Lanxess Tower and the Rhine floors was named after the 35th President of the United States of America John F. Kennedy and is called Kennedyplatz.
The front of the Rhine lying Rheinetagen were completely at the law firm Görg rented.
