The Lanyon peak is 1,750 m high and rocky mountain with a sharp peak in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises in the Saint Johns Range at a distance of 4 km east of the Upper Victoria Glacier .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1976 after the New Zealand ring Margaret C. Lanyon, Secretary of the United States Antarctic Program in Christchurch during the 1960s and 1970s.
