Lanz Museum Mitterrohrbach

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The lance Museum Mitter Rohrbach , actually Lanz Museum Leo Speer , is a private agricultural machinery museum in the district Mitter Rohrbach of Rimbach , Lower Bavaria .

history

The museum was opened by agricultural machinery collector and technician Leonhard Speer, better known by his nickname " Lanz-Leo ", and his ex-wife and later partner Edeltraud "Traudl" Heller on the private property in Mitterrohrbach, which was expanded with exhibition halls until 1990, after Speer's collection 1980 had become too big for the former property in Nöham . The museum has been actively run by his widow and son since the death of Leo Speer in March 2016. Various exhibits from the museum were exhibited at the Brass-Wiesn festival in August 2016 , including a steam tug that was in operation on site.

collection

The focus of the collection is on steam engines from the years of construction from 1882 to 1955 and historical Bulldogs from Heinrich Lanz AG from 12 to 60  hp from the years of construction from 1923 to 1958, from which the name of the museum goes back, but also machines from other manufacturers.

The museum is mainly divided into the areas of stationary engines , steam engines, tractors and threshing wagons and is one of the most important German private collections of its kind. Among other things, Speer's first bulldog is in the museum, another from 1937, which he acquired early from Count Stauffenberg's estate and a stationary steam engine from 1938 with 500  HP in the boiler house .

Speer also took part in agricultural festivals and traditional events with his agricultural machines and was, among other things, an actor in film productions.

Courtyard party

Speer, who was one of the first agricultural machinery exhibitions and meetings to organize and arrange as early as 1960, has held the so-called courtyard festival every year since its opening on the museum grounds, where buses from all over Germany arrive. Around 4,000 visitors came to the 20th edition in 2010.
